Welcome to Winstone Park
Social Tennis
Social tennis is a very large part of the fabric of the club and is well supported by the club members. We do require correct footwear, i.e. non-marking soles on your shoes, so the courts are not damaged.
Tuesday nights
Tuesday night tennis starts at 5.30 pm for those who can get away early from work, or have done so for good. Members come and go through the evening, with many of the early arrivals drifting towards the bar as the evening progresses. All 5 courts are normally in use, with players of all abilities taking part in scratch doubles games for 20 minutes at a time. Members wanting a hit of singles are encouraged to come down around 6.30 for a round of doubles and to then stay on to play singles.
The volunteers running the board take great care to ensure that everyone gets to play at a level they are comfortable with, and games are always friendly and close.
The last few games usually wrap up around 7:30 pm by which time many players have retired to join the social members in the bar and those wanting a hit of singles have the oportunity to do so.
On the first Tuesday of each month social tennis is followed by a BBQ (bring your own food), and this is always well attended.
Sunday afternoons
Sunday afternoon tennis is a quieter affair, starting at 2:00 p.m. There can also be an opportunity to play some singles if not all of the courts are in use.
